Why Attend a Nordic Ski Swap?

This community swap is the easiest way to buy and sell used Snowshoes and Nordic ski gear—skis, poles, boots, bindings, and Nordic clothing—priced right and checked over by people who live and breathe winter. This is also the perfect opportunity to get the basic gear you need to get started with the sport. As Mike Edwards (Telemark Nordic GM) put it: “If you can walk, you can ski.”

Coaches, racers, and staff will be on-site to guide choices and sizing. Fresh Air is the Okanagan’s Nordic super store with gear for classic and skate. Explore our Nordic collection.

Do good while you gear up

20% of sales support the Telemark Nordic Club Youth Race Team. Gear donations are happily accepted if you’d rather skip consigning. Learn more about the club’s programs and race team.

Classic vs. skate—quick pick

New to cross-country? Classic feels like walking/jogging in set tracks—most beginners start here. Skate is faster and more technical. If you’re unsure, begin with classic, then level up. For a deeper dive, ask the experts at the event!

How to Spot Good Gear

First things first, we will not accept broken or heavily damaged gear at the swap. There will be a range in quality from lower-end and well-used to higher-end and lightly used. Also, you can always buy brand-new gear while you’re at Fresh Air!

  • Ask the expert staff and volunteers working at the ski swap.

  • Inquire about current binding systems—compatibility standards have evolved over time.

  • Check bases/edges for deep damage; minor scuffs are normal.

  • Lean on our in-store experts and services: Ski Boot Fitting, Ski & Board Service, and Winter Services hub

Q: Still learning the basics?
A: Skim our Beginner’s Guide to Cross-Country Skiing or browse all winter gear & services.

Pro tips & helpful links

  • Get sized right. Stop by for a ski boot fitting and a quick flex check. On swap day, Telemark coaches and our staff will do a rapid “fit & bind” once-over.

  • New to Nordic? Start classic. It’s the easiest entry point; skate is a fun step two. Skim our Beginner’s Guide and browse the Nordic collection to learn the parts.
