Enjoy the Fresh Air in Kelowna this Valentine’s Day: 3 Adventurous Outdoor Date Ideas
If you’re like us, quality time with someone happens when you’re on the move. Even though Valentine’s Day falls in February, you can still take your love outdoors! Here are three Fresh Air Kelowna-approved date ideas.
1. Skating at Stuart Park
Recreate a Hallmark movie moment at the Stuart Park outdoor skating rink. Skate hand in hand around the rink, then warm up by the outdoor firepit — make sure to bring a thermos of hot cocoa or tea for extra coziness!
The rink is open for drop-in skate sessions from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. (except Mondays, when it is closed from 6 to 8 a.m. for maintenance, but that’s not exactly prime date-time). Rentals are available on-site for a fee but feel free to bring your own gear.
It’s also super easy to check the ice conditions beforehand at the city’s live webcam.
2. Snowshoeing
A classic winter pastime, donning a pair of snowshoes to wander through the wilderness is practically a Canadian right of passage. Kelowna has many snowshoe trails to explore, either on your own (Myra Canyon is a local favourite) or at different resorts like Kelowna Nordic, Big White, or the Telemark Nordic Club.
3. Downhill Skiing
Turn up the heat on a green, blue, or black diamond and shred with your boo.
Big White is ready to capture your love with their Valentine’s Day photo booth in the Village Centre from 1 - 3 pm. Lucy Moose will be on hand to share the love and Hershey’s kisses throughout the village.
At SilverStar, not only can you nab a romantic photo opp at the top of the gondola, but you can stick around for the Traffic Lights party at the Red Antler. Wearing red means you're spoken for, green means looking, and yellow — well, it’s complicated.
Remember — the more time you spend outside, the nicer it’ll be to cozy up together at the end of the day.
Quit dreaming, start doing. Our sports stores in Kelowna have everything you need to find your new sport. See what’s in store, then get out and enjoy the Fresh Air!
