Foster a love of nature in your adventurous little one with this guide from Fresh Air Kelowna.

Fresh Air Kelowna’s Kid-Friendly Adventure Inspiration

Parenting is the ultimate adventure—if you know, you know. There’s something new and unexpected every day. Living in Kelowna, it's also important to bring out the wild side in your kids. We live in such an incredible location to teach little ones how to soak up the great outdoors.

Bike Trails, Trails, Everywhere!

Kelowna is a bike town—mountain bikes, e-bikes, road bikes—we love ‘em all. We have over 300 kilometres of cycling lanes and 40 km of paved trails. One family-friendly spot we love is Myra Canyon and the rail trail, accessible right from our new location!

Whether they’re on training wheels or ready to take them off, the bike shop has the right bike models for the whole family, and don’t forget the bike helmet.

The Great Outdoors on Foot

When you explore as a family on foot, you have the amazing opportunity to teach your children to appreciate nature as you have the ability to easily stop and point out the wildlife and greenery. Kids will have questions, and taking the time to nurture their curiosity about the outdoors is a great way to foster an appreciation for their wild side!

Remember getting lost in all the stories in your head as a kid? Head out to Knox Mountain for the afternoon to explore the easier trails and let the little ones’ imaginations wander.

The Tag-Alongs

Depending on the age of your little ones, you may have an easier time using a stroller or chariot. These accessories are game-changers when it comes to getting the kids outside.

Bike

Something like the Thule Chariot and Veer (or Thule!) Bike Seat is a simple add-on to your bike.

Foot

If you’re going on foot and looking for something with a little more heft, the Veer Cruiser is for you. Seriously—this thing is like the all-terrain party bus of strollers! Part wagon, part stroller and all safety, this buddy can handle mud, rocks and sand easily.

You’ll also be grateful for your new wagon if you stroll through the Kelowna Farmer’s Market or visit one of our many local farms.

Our sports stores in Kelowna have everything you need to find your new sport.  See what’s in store, then get out and enjoy the Fresh Air!
