From beginner to advanced, the lakes in and around Kelowna offer some amazing locations to find your bliss on a paddle board.

Fresh Air Shop Spots: Best Places to Paddle Board Near Kelowna

Some of us love jumping right into the water, while others are all about gliding on the surface. People get on their paddle boards for the zen-like meditation of floating on the water, taking in the scenery and giving those stabilizing core muscles a workout, but there’s nothing like finding your favourite SUP (stand-up paddle board) spot to paddle the world away. So, from our board shop: here are some of the best places to SUP near Kelowna.

The Kelowna Paddle Trail

One thing that can really bring down the feeling of gliding on an inflatable SUP is the disruption caused by motorized watercraft. The 27-kilometre stretch of water from McKinley Beach to Bertram Beach along Okanagan Lake is a motor-free zone so you can pick any spot on the trail and paddle in peace.

Kalamalka Lake

This spot is the place that SUPpers love so much they made a festival! The Kalamalka Classic SUP Festival, which raises money for the Society for the Protection of Kalamalka Lake, brings beginner and intermediate paddlers together for a day of fun in one of the most stunning lakes in the Okanagan.

For experienced paddlers: Rattlesnake Island

If you’re ready to handle a more advanced adventure, paddling across Okanagan Lake to Rattlesnake Island rewards you with excellent views and a fun archaeological vibe with remnants of old construction and a golf course to discover. It’s said that the Ogopogo Lake monster makes its home in a cave under the island!
